Small Businesses to Shop with this Christmas

Hey, everyone! Melissa here. If there's one thing we can do this year, it's spread the love. So I want you to meet some of my friends. Brands that I love, who are owned and run by some of the most talented and passionate creatives that I count as friends.

Whether you're after candles, new loungewear, makeup, art, or even a book or two, you'll find something here.

The Letter Shed Studio - paper goods and stationery

The work of our very own designer Chrissy. On her Etsy shop, you'll find stunning paper goods, stationery and if you're after an impressive cake topper, she's your girl!

Annie Dornan Smith - paper goods and homeware

Annie's homeware and paper goods are gorgeous. My favourite thing is seeing her creative process. If you've seen this year's Not On The High Street's Christmas ad, you may recognise her work from that.

Ellie&O - pet bandanas

If your dog loves an accessory as much as mine does, you're going to love Ellie&O. Magnum has two and I'm definitely buying more!

Olive N Grey - apparel for dog lovers

Everyone needs a dog walking sweater, right? Gabriella and Craig launched Olive n Grey during lockdown and they've seen phenomenal growth - I'm not one bit surprised. If you love your pup, you'll love their collections.

Wayward Store - cards, art prints and more

Emma creates the most beautiful products inspired by rock, travel and tattoos. If black, skulls and neon are your thing, you need to check out her work.

Moments of Happy - books, journals and more

If 2020 has taught us anything, it's the importance of slowing down. Moments of Happy is run by a mother/daughter duo whose ethos is to look for the moments of joy in our everyday lives. I have their ceramic paintbrush holder and it's perfect for when I'm making my coasters.

Mister Berwyn - homeware

I met Amy when I first launched Honey Bee Home and her work is some of the most colourful, joyful homeware I've ever seen. Her range of home and kitchenware features an array of cheerful characters and everything is sustainably made and designed in Britain and Sweden.

By Jess D - cruelty free cosmetics

Jess has created my new favourite lipsticks. There's a shade for every skin tone and they don't budge! The finish is perfect but don't just take my word for it - By Jess D was featured in Stylist magazine last month. Rum Cake is my fave but there's a whole range of colours and she launched eyeshadow palettes this week.

Silly Loaf - colourful accessories, designed and made in England

I met Sophie at a retreat in 2016 and her brand is as bright and lovely as she is! If you're a fan of a statement earring and bucket loads of colour, you'll love Silly Loaf.

Offdaze - art and apparel

Cameron's illustrations are beautiful. And my Offdaze sweatshirt is the softest one in my wardrobe. Aside from being my neighbour in the Jewellery Quarter and a blooming' good friend, he's immensely talented.

The Abstract Bee - homeware, fragrance and jewellery

We may be biased but a bit of bee homeware is the best. Benita creates homeware, fragrance and jewellery. AND if you're London-based, get yourself to Regent Street because her shop has just opened. We will be stocking her coasters next year and I cannot wait.

Silver By Ruby - handmade fine silver jewellery

Ruby's work is pretty and delicate and would make the perfect gift this Christmas. Place your order before the 15th of December to get it before the big day.

Gem Morson - The Mother Cooker

Gem's passion for growing your own food and eating seasonally is awe-inspiring. This year, she published her e-cookbook of 30 recipes - all grown, developed and photographed by her! Amazing.

Niloh - goddess candles

A fellow Birmingham business and some of the most gorgeous candles I've ever seen. They're also vegan soy wax. Winner.

Tina Francis Tapestry

Tina is my neighbour in the Jewellery Quarter and a talented tapestry needlepoint maker. Her work incorporates some beautiful colour combinations. Oh and she runs workshops, so if you're after a new hobby for 2021, you know where to go.

The Naked Desk - design-led stationery and creative gifts

I've known Jennie for a few years now and she's always had great taste, so I was thrilled when she launched The Naked Desk this year. As we're all working from home a lot more, these accessories are the perfect way to liven up your workspace. I've got my eye on the page holders.

& Chai - small batch, hand-poured soy wax candles

The work of my lovely friend Michelle and Louise, this brand is just gorgeous. Their six fragrances have been flying out since their launch and I'm not one bit surprised.

The Punky Bunny - goodies for vegans

The perfect gift for the vegan in your life. Emma also donates 10% of profits to an animal sanctuary, so get your goodies and do something lovely.

Luxe Volition - online clothing boutique

Jenny has created such a gorgeous brand. And is a total sweetheart. My favourite loungewear is from Luxe Volition and who doesn’t need more loungewear?

Tasha M Campbell - thread artist

I have all sorts of bits and bobs by Tasha in my house - her hoop art is my absolute favourite.

And that's all for now, folks! I really do hope that you find a new business that you love. Even if you're not buying a lot this Christmas, bookmark this post to come back to.

Lots of love,

Melissa xo
