Behind The Scenes: The Team behind the Summer Collection
This year, Honey Bee Home has gone to a whole new level and I realised that I just couldn’t do it without some help.
So in this post, I’ll be shining a spotlight on the team who brought my vision for the summer collection to life.
First up, is Yasmin Qureshi. I first met Yasmin way back in 2015, when we worked on a blogger photoshoot together. When I asked her to shoot the first collection for Honey Bee Home, a couple of years ago, I knew I’d made the right choice. She’s a dream to work with! The cutout imagery for the website and the lookbook are amazing.
One thing that I’m especially proud of is the fact that all of the photos were taken in the studio. For those of you who are new to the BeeHive, we’re based in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. So to have created the look and feel from that we did, from that space, is a great feeling and long may it continue.
Next up was something that Honey Bee Home had never really ventured into - video. There was no way I’d be able to produce the level of quality I needed without a pro. Through a programme at my former university, I was introduced to Megan Bryan, of Panfoot Productions.
She’s Midlands-based, which I love. We had our initial meeting over coffee and she understood what I needed immediately. From there, she set about making the ideas a reality and the video she produced captured the essence of the collection perfectly.
After moodboards, emails back and forth, location scouting and more, we were finally ready to produce the video. We had already had to reschedule because of terrible weather, so I was a little nervous on the day. I needn’t have worried; the rain made a very quick appearance, along with the sunshine. I was ecstatic.
I called on the creative eye of my best friend Bek. As the entire collection is based on our love for the summertime, it made sense to create a picnic for the video.
She makes the most amazing grazing platters and has a great eye for styling, so she was partly responsible for that too. And as you can see from the video, it turned out beautifully. The food also doubled up as catering for the team. Win win.
The final piece of the creative puzzle was graphic design. Taking the brand to a new level included pitching to the press and that required a lookbook. This became the responsibility of my friend Chrissy, who also created social media graphics. The lookbook is gorgeous, I’m sure you’ll agree.
I’m so proud to be an independent business in Birmingham and to be surrounded by talented creatives is something that I count a privilege.
